Who is Ed Dale and what is the 30 Day Challenge?
If you are not familiar with Ed Dale, he is one of the world’s top internet marketing gurus and the mastermind behind the 30 Day Challenge, one of the greatest, most comprehensive, free internet marketing training programs available today.
For people wanting to learn how to make money on the internet, the 30 Day Challenge is the starting point. Hands down, no questions asked… The goal of the program is to help complete newbies understand how to make their first dollar online, and the program has gained world wide success, because it really works. As a result, people are actually making money and it is opening up new windows of opportunity for people struggling to find new income streams for themselves in today’s troubled economy.
The Meetup
Last night I had the pleasure of meeting with Ed in Frankfurt Germany for an impromptu 30DC get together for drinks and schnitzel. Upon hearing of the meet up, i cancelled everything and eagerly jumped the train to Frankfurt where I met him in the hotel lounge where we sat and talked for about a half an hour for a surprising, private one on one before we headed off to meet the rest of the group at the restaurant. Two of the guys there were Frank and Dinu from YUM in Frankfurt.
Considering the fact that Ed can charge thousands per head for large corporate training seminars, this was an unprecedented opportunity to gain personal insight from the master.
For me, personally, one of the things I like most about Ed is the fact that when it comes to mobile marketing strategies, he totally gets it. As he travels the world, he blogs, tweets and uploads audio and video with his iPod whenever he has thoughts to share, and really seems to have his finger on the pulse of what it takes to stay on top of social media and marketing.
The get together was announced a week prior via Twitter, then as the plans progressed, he tweeted links to audio clips on Audio Boo with updates and linked the locations via Google Maps. As we left the hotel, he tweeted that we were on the way so the others could keep informed. Somehow with the help of Twitter on our mobile devices, 6 strangers from all over Germany all managed to get to the restaurant at the right place at the right time.
Highlights
As the night progressed several topics were discussed but here are a few key highlights.
- Google Wave – I asked Ed what his thoughts were on Google Wave and he said that while he was unsure if it was going to be a strong marketing tool, he said that he and the rest of his team routinely use wave for planning 30DC projects and that Google Wave was destined to become a leading online collaboration tool.
- How do you Practice Market Leadership? – This topic came up and Ed addressed it the next day as an audio blog on Audio Boo so i’ll just link to it instead of going into more detail.
- What’s the next Big Thing? – When asked what the next big thing is or will be, Ed replied “Definitely Mobile” and used the rapid growth of the iPhone Apps store as an example.
- The 30DC Inc. IPO Offer – it’s kind of old news, but I wasn’t aware that the 30DC was positioning itself for an IPO. I was stoked!
If you haven’t yet checked out the “30DC” I highly recommend jumping on it, regardless of whether you are a newbie or a seasoned marketer. I make it a priority to follow the 30 Day Challenge every year, just to stay up to speed with all the latest niche marketing methods and software being taught, and being free to boot, makes this program an invaluable resource for anyone.
